The Last Generation

The Last Generation

Prof. J.S. Malan, University of the North, South Africa

Christians are expected to seriously consider the signs of the times which indicate the nearness of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ (Mt. 16:2-3). Although we are admonished to refrain from the extreme practice of date-setting, we should nevertheless acquaint ourselves with biblical references to the last generation as a time-frame for the fulfilment of prophecies about to the restoration of Jerusalem, the rapture, the seven-year tribulation period with its extensive range of apocalyptic events, and the Second Coming of Christ (Mt. 24:34; Lk. 21:32).

There are different interpretations of the concept “generation,” depending on the context in which the Bible uses it. In the original languages the word “generation” often refers to a group of people – a kinship group, a tribe, or various other groups with specific characteristics, e.g. an “evil generation” (Lk. 11:29). In other cases, however, “generation” refers to an age group in a particular society, tribe or nation. In this application of the term there is a chronology of generations as younger ones succeed the older generations. It is in this context that Matthew 1:17 says: “So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations…”

Within the same people, or nation, there are various generations that come and go during the course of time, depending on how old the group is. These generations overlap partially since the old and young generations in any society co-exist for a number of years. In the Bible, a clear distinction is made between the adult generation and the young generation, of which the latter comprises children who have not yet come of age. God often addresses only the adult generation, as they are held accountable to Him for their decisions and actions.

When the total life span of a generation since its birth is considered, a period of about 70 years is suggested (Ps. 90:10). An adult generation, however, represents a period of about 40 years between the ages of 30 and 70. The Levitical priests could only assume office at the age of 30 (Num. 4:3), as well as the rabbi’s in later times. For the same reason, Jesus, as a Jewish man, could only start with His teaching ministry after reaching the age of 30 years (Lk. 3:23). David’s years of accountability as king were between 30 and 70: “David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years” (2 Sam. 5:4). The priests and scribes serving on the Jewish Council (Sanhedrin) during post-exilic times could only be appointed after reaching the age of 30, thereby also assigning political significance to the age of 30.

Within the chronology of time there are various generations that succeed one another. In the church dispensation there is, obviously, also a first and a last generation – to both of which special reference is made in the Bible. In the long history of Israel, there are three generations that are singled out as very important. They are the generation associated with their exodus from Egypt to take possession of the Promised Land, the generation during which they rejected the Messiah and were consequently dispersed over the earth, and the generation associated with their end-time restoration to the land of their fathers as a prelude to their spiritual restoration as the Chosen People of God. The last two of these three generations coincide with the first and last generations of the Church age. The three generations in Israel’s history are the following:

Taking possession of the land:
The members of the adult generation of Jews that were called out of Egypt to take possession the Promised Land were 20 years of age or older. At that time, adulthood was attained at the age of 20 when young men were eligible for military service (Num. 26:2,4). It should be clearly understood that only the adult generation of Israelites (those who were 20 years or older) were held accountable by God for their actions of spiritual rebellion, and consequently died in the wilderness: “Surely none of the men who came up from Egypt, from twenty years old and above, shall see the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, because they have not wholly followed Me, except Caleb… and Joshua… for they have wholly followed the Lord. So the Lord’s anger was aroused against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation that had done evil in the sight of the Lord was gone” (Num. 32:11-13).

Many of the members of this generation died of unnatural causes in the wilderness because of their spiritual waywardness. Two members of the same generation, Caleb and Joshua, were counted worthy by the Lord to survive the wilderness wanderings and take possession of the Promised Land seven years after crossing the River Jordan. Joshua said that he was 40 years old when Moses sent him out as a spy from Kadesh Barnea, which means that he was 38 during the exodus from Egypt. When he was 85, after the 40 years of wandering in the wilderness and the subsequent seven years of the wars of conquest in Canaan, Joshua divided the Promised Land among the tribes of Israel. In total, 67 years elapsed since the birth in Egypt of the generation that was led out of bondage until the final allocation of the land to them, despite the fact that only two of the faithful members of that generation survived to the end.

International dispersion:
The events leading up to Israel’s international Diaspora during the first century AD were fulfilled within the time span of an adult generation of 40 years, as they were accountable for their rejection of the Messiah. Through their final act of rebellion against God this particular generation, the contemporaries of Jesus, would fill the cup of their fathers’ guilt to the brim and pay the price for the accumulated iniquities of the nation (Mt. 23:31-35). Jesus said to them: “Assuredly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together… but you were not willing! See! Your house is left to you desolate” (Mt. 23:36-38).

The desolation of Jerusalem and the international dispersion of Israel are directly related to the rejection of Jesus as Messiah. He clearly conveyed this message to the inhabitants of Jerusalem: “For the days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation” (Lk. 19:43-44). He further said about the inhabitants of Jerusalem: “And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled” (Lk. 21:24).

The adult generation to whom Jesus addressed these words in 32 AD were born in the year 2 AD or before, and would experience the fulfilling of these prophecies during the 40 years of their adulthood between 32 and 72 AD. Jesus effectively told them that the destruction of Jerusalem and the Diaspora of Israel would occur within their adult lifetime. Jerusalem was destroyed in 70 AD and during the subsequent two years thousands of Jewish captives of war were taken to Rome while many were sold as slaves in Egypt and other countries. By 72 AD, exactly 40 years after Jesus had foretold the disasters that were imminent for that generation, every word was fulfilled to the letter. The total life span of that generation was 70 years, counting from its birth in AD 2 and leading up to its adulthood in 32 AD, the year of the final rejection and crucifixion of the Messiah, and ending in 72 AD when many of the Jewish survivors of the Roman war were already in exile.

The adult generation between 32 and 72 AD was also the first generation of the Christian dispensation, and therefore a transitional one between Israel and the church. During this generation, Israel would be phased out by way of the destruction of Jerusalem and the nation’s international dispersion because of rejecting the Messiah, while the church would be gradually phased in among the nations by way of various missionary endeavours.

End-time restoration:
The end-time generation can also be considered within its total life span of 70 years, or within the 40 years of the adult generation. The birth of the last generation coincided with the birth of the modern state of Israel in May 1948, and will come to an end 70 years later in 2018. This generation reached adulthood at the age of 30 in 1978, thus commencing the 40 years of the last generation’s adult phase from 1978 to 2018. This fact was demonstrated by the constitutional maturity of Israel in 1980 (30 years or more after its birth as a nation), when Jerusalem was declared to be the eternal and indivisible capital of Israel by prime minister Menachem Begin, who, during that year, moved his office from Tel Aviv (the former capital) to Jerusalem. The City of the Great King (the future capital of the Messiah – Jer. 3:17; Is. 2:3) was restored as the capital of independent Israel in 1980, after having been trampled by the Gentiles for almost two millennia (Lk. 21:24).

A careful study of Luke 21 reveals that both the total generation of 70 years and the adult generation of 40 years are alluded to in this chapter, thereby availing us of a 70/40 window for the interpretation of end-time prophecies. The following is said about the birth of Israel: “Look at the fig tree and all the trees. When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near” (Lk. 21:29-30). The fig tree is a symbol of Israel (Hos. 9:10; Jer. 24:5). The budding of the fig tree refers to the early beginning of Israel’s restoration in May 1948 as an independent nation, and hence to the birth of the last generation.

After just more than 30 years of independence the last generation attained adulthood and set the stage for the constitutional restoration of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital city and the hub of their religious and cultural life. When Israel became independent in 1948, they only controlled the western parts of Jerusalem. By that time, biblical Jerusalem (the Old City, or the City of David, including the Temple Mount) was still under Jordanian control. In June 1967 the entire city was recaptured and in August 1980 officially restored to its former status as capital. The prophecy that “Jerusalem will be trampled by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled” (Lk. 21:24) was physically fulfilled in 1967, and politically fulfilled in 1980, but from a religious point of view the Temple Mount is still trampled by Gentiles and will only be purified and restored to full Jewish control when the Messiah comes at the end of this generation.

After discussing the signs of the times that will occur after the end of Jerusalem’s trampling by Gentiles, Christ said: “Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things are fulfilled” (Lk. 21:32). The “all things” that will be fulfilled include the rapture (Lk. 21:36), the time of the distress of nations, which is the tribulation period (Lk. 21:25-26), and the Second Coming (Lk. 21:27). We are given no indication of the day, hour or even year of the coming of Jesus Christ – only of the terminal generation. As indicated, this generation will come to an end in 2018. How long before the end of this generation Christ will come, we do not know. All that we do know is that this generation will not pass away until all things are fulfilled. It could even be a bit shorter as we have a promise of difficult days of tribulation that will be shortened (Mt. 24:22).

Given the fact that the tribulation period will last for seven years (Dan. 9:27), the promise of the rapture within this generation cannot be fulfilled later than 2011. However, there is one further indication that we have of the possible time for the tribulation period as it may coincide with Israel’s restored cycle of year-weeks – periods of seven years in which the seventh year is a sabbatical year. The tribulation is often associated with a year-week of 7 years, which is divided into two halves of 3½ years, 42 months or 1260 days each (Dan. 9:27; Rev. 11:3; 13:5). During this week of seven years the Antichrist will conclude a covenant with Israel and many other nations (Dan. 9:27).

Israel’s present year-week started in September 2001 and will end with the Rosh Hashanah in 2008, which means that the next one will elapse between 2008 and 2015. That will be the last full year-week that can be fitted into the generation of 70 years that started in 1948 and the adult generation of 40 years from 1978. For this reason, much interest is shown in the beginning of the next year-week in 2008. If it is fulfilled, it will mean that 67 years will have passed between the birth of modern Israel and the coming of Messiah in 2015(?), taking up 37 years of the adult generation of 40 years.

However, these dates only remain possibilities as we know only in part as far as the fulfilment of biblical prophecies are concerned. What we definitely know is that we have already progressed deep into the last generation, and that Jesus Himself promised that this generation will not pass away unfulfilled. We are assured of this fact and would certainly not be left in the dark as to the interpretation of the last generation! Israel is indeed the ‘watch’ of God. If we do not “look at the fig tree” (Lk. 21:29) we will not know where we stand on the timetable of God.

It is also obvious that this generation constitutes a transition between the church and Israel. Israel is gradually being phased in since 1948 in anticipation of its final spiritual restoration as foremost nation during the coming millennium (Jer. 31:7; Is. 60:11-14), while the church should prepare itself to be phased out before the end of this generation by way of the rapture. The glorified church will, of course, also feature in the millennial reign of Christ as co-rulers (Rev. 2:25-27; 5:9-10; 2 Tim. 2:12). The fact that the Lord Jesus clearly spoke to us about the last generation before His Second Coming, confronts us with the responsibility to at least consider the framework and progress of this decisive generation, even though we do not know how long before the end of this generation He will come as the heavenly Bridegroom in an unknown hour to snatch away His waiting bride to her heavenly mansion (Jn. 14:2-3).

"2008 to 2015   Feast Of Trumpets to Day Of Atonement 2550 Days"

2008 to 2015
Feast of Trumpets 2008  to Day of Atonement 2015

= 2550 Days / 86 Moons.

49 normal current Sabbatical cycles since 5727.

49 X 360 = 17640 Biblical year days since 6 -7-1967.

Israels final Sabbatical Cycle within a 70 year
Generation from Israels rebirth May 14, 1948.

The Jewish lunar calendar has an extra month added about every 3 years (actually 7 months every 19 years)
to correct for the lunar/solar difference. Thus a given 7-year period includes either two or three embolic
(extra month added) years to account for this difference, or 86 or 87 lunar months. The average lunar
period is 29.53 days at present. Thus a 7-year time with 2 embolic years equals 86 x 29.53 = 2540 days
and this equates with the date of the Feast of Trumpets on year 7. The Day of Atonement in year seven is
10 days later or 2550 days from the start of the Tribulation Period. This equates exactly to the 30 extra days
after the 2520 day tribulation period of Daniel’s prophecy (Daniel 12:11). The celebration of the Feast of
Tabernacles or Harvest, five days later, can be considered coincidental to our Thanksgiving celebrations. http://www.pembrokebiblechapel.com/newsletter/oct2007.htm

Realizing that the rapture is on the Feast of Trumpets and knowing that this in a New Moon festival we can
count the number of moons that would appear during this time. There are 86 moons that will appear during
a seven year period seen on any lunar calendar. The moon revolves around the earth every 29.530589 days.
Times this by 86 moons will equal to 2,539.63 days and can be rounded up to 2,540 days. This would get us
back to the Feast of Trumpets seven years later on the day 1st day of Tishri. We must count 10 days to get
us to the Day of Atonement which gives us the 2,550 days allotted by God and revealed to His prophets
Daniel and John.

http://www.unveilingthebride.com/The-Lords-Feast-Gods-Timetable

The moon revolves around the earth every 29.530589 days.   87 moons will give you about roughly
(
2579 days) between Feast of Trumpets and Day of Atonement in any seven year Tishrei to Tishrei
span because 87 X 29.53 = 2569 days from Tishrei to Tishrei seven years later + 10 DAYS to
Atonement Day = 2579 days.   Well 2579 days is too many days  So
you need 86 moons between
Feast of Trumpets and Day of Atonement in any seven year Tishrei to Tishrei span  to give you 2550
days or close to that many.  Remember only
2550 days is applicable.   86 x 29.53 from Tishrei to
Tishrei =  (
2540 Days
rounded) + 10 days  ---  to Day of Atonement = 2550 Days.

[ edit ] The Day of Atonement and Eschatology

Some Christians believe that the Day of Atonement, the sixth holiday on the Hebrew calendar, will come
into its ultimate New Covenant fulfilment on a climactic day in future history. Not only will it wrap up affairs
between God and His covenant people for the year, the sabbatical year, and the 50 year
Jubilee cycle,
but this future day of awe will be a climactic Day of Atonement that will come on the last day of this age
and on the eve of the Last judgement .
Bible scholars believe that the next feast to be fulfilled, the Feast of Trumpets , which is Rosh Hashanah
or the Jewish New Year, will be the epic peace treaty of Daniel 9:27. In this seven year covenant the
sovereign land of Israel will be divided up and ceded to a coming global peacemaker for a period of
seven years. This seven year covenant, which promises peace to the Middle East, is the event which
initiates the 70th Week of Daniel, the final seven years of this age.
The reason they believe this to be so is that the timespan encompassing the Feast of Trumpets and the
Day of Atonement when they are seven years apart and when they comprise 86 moons on the metatonic
cycle, (and not 87 moons), is 2550 days.
86 moons = 86 x 29.530589 days + 10 days = 2550 days (inclusive). This is the timespan that begins on
Tishrei 1 in year X and extends out seven years to Tishrei 10 on year X + 7.
2550 days is a very significant time period. This is precisely the timespan of the 70th week of Daniel along
with the 30 day extension which goes out beyond the 1260 day second half of the
Prophecy of Seventy Weeks
to reach the 1290 days we see prophesied by Daniel. (Dan.12:11). 1260 days + 1290 days = 2550 days exactly.
This is quite remarkable. The timespan of Daniel's 70th Week with its 30 day extension, appears to be marked
out precisely by the Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement seven years later. This is for those seven year
Tishrei to Tishrei timespans that see 86 and not 87 moons. This a very significant discovery. It is not likely to
be a coincidence.
The calculations of these feast to feast timespans across 86 moons and seven years are uncomplicated and
easily verifiable. They can be confirmed quite readily using the new moon lunar data from the
United States Naval Observatory or by using the Hebrew Calendar Converter available online at Hebcal.com .

I calculated seven year timeframes from the metatonic cycle with 86 moons,  according
to Israels Sabbatical Cycle from the Jewish years 5706 to 5839 and the only seven
year span that matched up with the Israel Sabbatical and had the 86 moons, 2550
day requirements was the upcoming Israel Sabbatical in 5769.  It was the only one
that matched in regards to Israels Sabbatical cycle.

Israel’s present year-week started in September 2001 and will end with the Rosh Hashanah in 2008, which means
that the next one will elapse between 2008 and 2015. That will be the last full year-week that can be fitted into the
generation of 70 years that started in 1948
and the adult generation of 40 years from 1978. For this reason, much
interest is shown in the beginning of the next year-week in 2008. If it is fulfilled, it will mean that 67 years will have
passed between the birth of modern Israel and the coming of Messiah in 2015(?), taking up 37 years of the adult
generation of 40 years.

-----------------------------------------
Seven year-weeks since June 10, 1967, when Jerusalem was recaptured, will have elapsed on 23 September 2015.
Israel has reinstituted their biblical chronology of year-weeks, of which the seventh year in every cycle is a sabbatical
year (Lev. 25:3-4). But they follow lunar years which are shorter than prophetic years as well as seasonal years.
In order to keep track with seasonal years they often have leap years with a 13th month. Their next year-week will
begin with the Rosh Hashanah in September 2008 and extend until the Jewish New Year of September 2015.
By then, seven prophetic year-weeks since the restoration of Jerusalem in June 1967 will expire.

The year-week from September 2008 to September 2015 is also very important from the viewpoint of the last generation
(Luke 21:32). A last generation of 70 years (Ps. 90:10) started with the birth of modern Israel in May 1948, and will end in
May 2018. The last full year-week which can be accommodated in this generation is the one from September 2008 to
September 2015. From this point of view time is quickly running out for us.

It will soon be evident
whether the Antichrist’s seven-year covenant with Israel and the nations (Dan. 9:27)
will indeed coincide with Israel’s present year-week cycle.
What we should clearly realise now is that true
believers can at any moment hear the cry: “Behold, the Bridegroom is coming; go out to meet Him!” (Matt. 25:6).
It will then be too late for the foolish virgins (carnal and nominal believers) to prepare for His coming. Because of their
own neglect they will face the dark night of the tribulation under the Antichrist’s reign of terror. During that time they
can still be saved and sanctified but amid great persecution. The Lord wants us to be spiritually worthy to escape the
coming tribulation and judgements (Luke 21:36).

What is the Mark of the Beast?
The mark of the beast is a combination of letters and symbols that will be physically and permanently placed on your forehead or right hand. Most people will consider it an honor to receive the mark. It will be like a key for them that will open doors of acceptance, prosperity and peace.

The mark of the beast will be placed on people who worship the beast and choose to receive his mark. There will be severe penalties for refusing the mark and great rewards for getting it.

Worship the beast and get his mark
The mark of the beast will be enforced. The people who believe in the beast and worship him will be glad to get his mark.

The beast is not a person or a human organization. The beast is Satan himself. But when Satan comes as the beast he will appear in a glorious body. People will not recognize him as the Devil. He will claim to be God and most people will believe that he is God.

The mark of the beast is an outward, physical symbol, showing that the wearer has chosen to worship the beast and receive him as God.

Mark of the beast a symbol of worship
When two people get married the wife will often take the last name of the husband as her own. The husband and wife will both wear a wedding ring as a symbol of their marriage. Likewise, people will take the name of the beast and will wear his mark as a symbol of their allegiance to him.

There will be six hundred and sixty six different ways to get the mark.

Read next about 666 and the mark of the beast.

666 and the Mark of the Beast
666 comes from Revelation 13 in the Bible. 666 is a human number that is connected with the mark of the beast.

Beast is Satan, claiming to be God
The beast is Satan in a brilliant, perfect body. He will appear to people as a glorious being and he claims to be God. He will have many names, all of which are different names for God. In fact, he will have a total of six hundred and sixty-six (666) names.

“No one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.” Revelation 13:17,18

666 blasphemous names
This verse tells us to calculate or count the number of names the beast has. The beast will have 666 names. When he first comes to earth he starts out with 7 blasphemous names and over the next few months he keeps adding names until he reaches 666 blasphemous names. These are blasphemous names because they claim to be God but they aren’t God. When you count up all of his names there will be 666 names.

Mark of the beast is 666 names
The mark of the beast is the name of the beast or any of his 666 names. In other words, you receive the mark of the beast by taking any one of the beast’s 666 names.

So why does he need so many names? Because he wants to appeal to every person on earth. He carefully select his blasphemous names so that one of his names will appeal to each person on earth.

He will come as Allah or Imam Mahdi to the Muslims, Maitreya Buddha to the Buddhists, Jesus Christ to the Christians, Krishna to the Hindus, Messiah to the Jews, Saoshyant to the Zoroastrians, the “Dark Lord” to satanists, and so on through the whole list of 666 names.

His goal is to win the worship and allegiance of every person on earth.

So what will the mark of the beast look like? Read on to find out what the mark of the beast will look like.

What does the Mark of the Beast
look like?
The mark of the beast will be a literal, physical combination of letters and symbols. It will be permanently and prominently engraved or tatooed on the forehead or right hand of each person who gets the mark of the beast.

The mark of the beast will include one of the beast's 666 names. Each of the 666 names will be a name for God. The beast is Satan, coming to earth, looking like God and saying that he is God. Each of his names will be blasphemous, because he is not God.

Does the mark of the beast look nice?
The mark of the beast will look attractive and beautiful. It will please the senses and will excite the admiration of those who see it. Most people who wear it will be proud to have it.

The mark will be plainly visible for all to see. Your friends and family will be able to see if you have received the mark. Your employer can look at you and see the mark. When you go shopping the store clerk will be able to see if you are wearing the mark of the beast.

Read on to find out is the VeriChip the mark of the beast?

Is the VeriChip the Mark of the Beast?
The VeriChip is a small radio frequency identification device. It has an identification number and it is the size of a grain of rice. The VeriChip is implanted in the human body. It is currently used in some countries for medical information.

By itself the VeriChip is not the mark of the beast. The mark of the beast will only be offered after the beast has come. The beast is Satan coming to earth disguised as God. He will appear in a beautiful body and will require people to worship him and receive his mark.

VeriChip could be part of the mark of the beast
When Satan comes to earth claiming to be God he will require people to receive the mark of the beast. It is possible that a VeriChip could be implanted in the forehead or right hand as a part of the mark of the beast. This would probably only occur in the more industrialized countries.

Currently the VeriChip is not the mark of the beast. But at some point in the future it could be part of the physical mark that is put on a person's forehead or right hand.

Mark of the beast – forehead or right hand
“He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.” Revelation 13:16,17

The mark of the beast will be placed on a person's forehead or right hand.

Read about who will be forced to receive the Bible mark of the beast.

Bible Mark of the Beast forced on everyone
"He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead." Revelation 13:16

The beast is Satan. But he will appear on earth as a powerful, awesome being. He will claim that he is God. This will happen very soon.

A few months after the beast comes to earth he will attempt to force every person on earth to receive the mark of the beast. He will make a law requiring every person to receive the mark of the beast and there will be stiff penalities to anyone who refuses. This law will apply to every person in every country on earth.

It won’t matter if you are very wealthy or if you are poor. It won’t matter if you are the leader of a great country or if no one knows your name. You may be free, or you may be in prison or in debt.

You may be old or young, male of female. You may be very religious or you may not even believe in God. Nothing about you will matter. If you are alive you will be under great pressure to receive the mark of the beast.

If you choose to receive the mark of the beast it will be placed on your forehead or on your right hand.

You will be given a choice about what mark you want to receive. You will be allowed to choose from any of the 666 names that belong to the beast. Each of the 666 names is a name for God. Each name is blasphemous because the beast is not God.

The beast is Satan, pretending to be God. He will command you to worship him and to receive his mark and he won’t care which of his 666 names you choose.

Who will get the mark of the beast?
Almost everyone in the world will get the mark of the beast. There are many reasons why people will choose to get the mark:

1. It will be required for everyone

2. There will be severe penalties for refusing the mark of the beast

3. There will be great rewards for getting the mark of the beast

4. People will believe they are honoring God by receiving the mark of the beast

5. People will be afraid of not getting the mark of the beast

6. Peer pressure – most other people are getting the mark of the beast

7. Financial pressure – can’t buy or sell without the mark of the beast

People will want to get the mark of the beast because then they will be allowed to buy food, water, medicine and clothes. They will be able to work and get paid. Humanly speaking, getting the mark of the beast will be the logical, sane, safe, smart thing to do. But spiritually speaking, it is not wise to get the mark of the beast.

Please understand that God will not allow anyone to receive the mark of the beast unless they choose to get it. People will not be physically forced against their will. But most people will choose to worship the beast and to receive his mark.

Read on to find out when will the mark of the beast be required?

When will the Mark of the Beast be required?
It is not possible to get the mark of the beast right now. First of all, the beast does not currently exist and second of all, the mark is not being offered or required.

Very soon the beast will arrive on earth. The beast is not a person or a human organization. The beast is Satan himself. Satan will appear on earth in a glorious body and will claim that he is God. When he comes he will bring millions of his demons with him. They will not appear to be demons. Many of his demons will appear as glorious angels who pretend to be from heaven. Some of his demons will claim to be people who have died and gone to heaven. They will say that they have come back to earth to teach and help other people. They will appear in beautiful, perfect bodies.

Two demons appear to be Moses and Elijah
There will be two powerful demons who will claim to be the prophets Moses and Elijah. They will come with the beast. The three of them will appear to be God, Moses and Elijah.

The two demons who pretend to be Moses and Elijah are described as a beast in Revelation 13. They are called a beast with two horns. The two horns represent two beings, one Moses and the other Elijah.

"11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. 12 And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed." Rev 13:11-12

The demons pretending to be Moses and Elijah will be gentle and kind like a lamb but their words will be the words of Satan. They will have great power and authority. They will tell people to worship the first beast. This first beast is Satan. He appears to be God and people will adore and worship him.

Fire from heaven and miracles
"13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. 14 And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast." Revelation 13:13-14

The demon who is pretending to be Elijah will call down fire from heaven to prove that the beast (Satan) is God.

The demon who is pretending to be Moses will work miracles to prove that the beast (Satan) is God.

"16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name." Revelation 13:16-17

After Satan and his demons have been on earth for a few months the two demons pretending to be the prophets Moses and Elijah will force people to receive a mark on their right hand or on their forehead. They will enforce the mark of the beast.

Read on to find out how do you get the mark of the beast?

How do you get the Mark of the Beast?
First of all, you can’t get the mark of the beast accidentally. You can’t get it without meaning to. The mark of the beast is not a disease and it is not contagious.

You will get the mark of the beast by making a conscious choice to receive it. There will be a magnificent, powerful, loving being on earth claiming to be God. There will be two glorious, powerful prophets with him who claim to be the prophets Moses and Elijah. The three of them will convince almost everyone in the world to worship this beautiful, charismatic being who looks like God. They will convince almost everyone in the world to get his mark.

These three beings will offer protection, eternal life, peace and prosperity to people if they will worship the being claiming to be God and receive his special mark as a symbol of their allegiance. This is the mark of the beast.

666 versions of the mark of the beast
There will be 666 different options or versions of the mark. The beast will have 666 slightly different names that all claim to be God. One of these names will seem appropriate and attractive to each person on earth. For example, Christians believe that Jesus Christ will come again, the Jews believe that the Messiah is coming. So when the beast arrives on earth he will claim to be Jesus Christ to the Christians and he will offer them a version of his mark that is Christian. He will claim to be Messiah to the Jews and he will offer them a mark that is Jewish.

Most people will be deceived into believing that they should get the mark of the beast. They will line up to get it. They will feel honored to get it.

But please note that this awesome being is not God. You should not worship him. He is the beast. He is Satan. You should avoid his mark at all costs. You will not receive peace, prosperity or eternal life. All 666 versions of the mark of the beast are false and dangerous.

Read on to find out what will happen to you if you get the mark of the beast.

What if you get the Mark of the Beast?
Here is a very important point. If you choose to get the mark of the beast you are choosing to worship the beast and give him your allegiance. You will be worshiping Satan. You will be breaking the first of the ten commandments. In the first commandment God says,

"You shall have no other gods before Me.” Exodus 20:3

If you worship the beast you are placing another god before the true God of heaven.

If you choose one of the beast’s 666 names to be put on your forehead or on your right hand you are choosing to worship the beast as your god. You will be worshiping a false god and will receive the undiluted wrath of the true God who lives in heaven.

Allowed to buy and sell
It will seem like a good idea to get the mark of the beast because then you will be able to buy and sell. You can buy food and water. You can buy medicine and clothes for your family. You can continue to work at your job and get paid.

Mark of the beast brings the complete wrath of God
Receiving the mark of the beast has a very serious consequence.

The most solemn, fiery threat in the Bible applies to anyone who receives the mark of the beast.

"If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name." Revelation 14:9-11

If you receive the mark of the beast you will receive the full wrath of God. His wrath will not have any mercy mixed in with it.

Everyone who has the mark of the beast will receive seven terrible plagues. The 1st plague will be terrible, painful sores.

"So the first went and poured out his bowl upon the earth, and a foul and loathsome sore came upon the men who had the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image." Revelation 16:2

Get the mark of the beast and die eternally
Beyond receiving 7 plagues full of the wrath of God, the people who receive the mark of the beast will lose the opportunity to live forever. They will die eternally instead.

Read on to find out what will happen to you if you refuse the mark of the beast.

What if you refuse the Mark of the Beast?
If you refuse to get the mark of the beast you will not be allowed to buy anything or to sell anything. You will not get paid for your work. You will not be able to buy food, medicine, water, fuel, clothes or anything at all. You will be cut off from support and most likely you will be killed.

Can’t buy or sell without the mark of the beast
“He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.” Revelation 13:16,17

You will be hated and likely killed
"Now brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. And you will be hated by all for My name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved." Matthew 10:21,22

You will be forced to get the mark of the beast. If you refuse the mark of the beast you will not be allowed to buy anything or sell anything. You may be put in prison and you may be killed.

So why would anyone refuse the mark of the beast?

Refuse the mark of the beast and live eternally
Some wise people will refuse to worship the beast and to receive the mark of the beast. They will choose to worship the God of heaven instead. Many of these people will be killed. But a short time later they will be raised from the dead and they will live and reign with Christ for 1,000 years.

"Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years." Revelation 20:4

After the 1000 years is over, the people who refused the mark of the beast will live forever and ever with God. They will be perfectly and eternally happy.

Read on to find out why you should choose against the mark of the beast.

Choose against the Mark of the Beast
Every person will be required to choose between 2 options. Please carefully consider these 2 options:

1. Get the mark of the beast – You will be worshiping the beast. The beast is Satan claiming to be God. You will be able to buy and sell. Many people will like you. You can keep your job and your house. But you will soon receive the full wrath of God, poured out without mercy. You will die forever.

2. Refuse the mark of the beast – You will not be able to buy or sell. People will hate you. You will lose your job, your house and most likely your life. But God will have mercy on you and if you believe in Him and worship Him you will live again, forever.

Worship God or Satan?
Every person on earth will worship one of two beings. Either it will be the true God of heaven or it will be the beast, who is Satan claiming to be God.

There is only one way to receive eternal life and one name to believe in to receive salvation.

“the name of Jesus Christ . . . Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:10-12

There are many ways to be lost and many false gods to worship. The beast will have 666 approved names that all claim to be God but are all false.

Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." Matthew 7:13,14

Each person will either take God’s name or take one of the beast’s 666 names. God has only 1 name and 1 way – the right way. Satan has 666 names, 666 ways – all wrong.

Whose way will you choose? Whose name will you choose? Whom will you worship?

Who is the Beast in Revelation 13?
“And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name.” Revelation 13:1

The most solemn warning in the Bible is given to people who worship the beast. This warning includes the threat of receiving God’s wrath.

“If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand, he, too, will drink of the wine of God's fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath.” Revelation 14:9,10

If you worship the beast and receive his mark you will receive the complete wrath of God. So it is very important to understand who the beast is so you can avoid worshiping him.

First of all, the beast is not a wild animal like a tiger or a lion. He is not a literal animal.

Second, the beast is not a person, a country, or a human organization. So who is the beast? What does the beast represent?

The Beast is Satan claiming to be God
The beast is a symbol for Satan. But here’s the catch. Satan will come to earth disguised as God. He will wear a costume that makes him appear to be God. He will take on the appearance of God. But he is not God. He is Satan, the great deceiver.

Satan has been on the earth for thousands of years. But most of the time he has not been visible to human eyesight. He has existed in the spirit world. Soon he will transform himself into a being that looks and sounds like God.

Satan will become visible to us and he will be disguised as God. He will have the appearance of a glorious, heavenly being. The Bible calls him the beast when he comes to earth pretending to be God. The beast in Revelation 13 is Satan masquerading as God.

Read on to learn what will the beast will look like when he comes to earth?

What does the Beast look like?
When Satan comes to earth in a visible body he will be glorious, impressive, attractive and charismatic.

People will recognize that he is stronger and more majestic than a mere human being. People will be convinced by their senses that Satan is God. The book of Revelation calls him the beast.

The beast will speak in a melodious voice and he will have friendly, loving eyes. He will be gentle and kind. His appearance will dazzle and charm people. He will be extremely powerful.

The Beast will look like God
People will believe that the beast is God. They will be entranced and drawn to him. They will have an almost irresistible desire to worship the beast.

“And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. He had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on his horns, and on each head a blasphemous name.” Revelation 13:1

When Satan comes to earth looking like God and claiming to be God, he will have seven symbolic heads. Each head will have a blasphemous name.

Blasphemy is claiming to be God when you aren’t God. Satan will claim to be God even though he is not God. He will give himself seven names that are variations of God’s name.

The 10 horns that the beast has are 10 of Satan’s leading demons. These 10 demons will be kings and rule with Satan. This is why each of them is wearing a crown.

When will the Beast come to earth?
The beast will arrive on the earth in the very near future. The whole world will quickly become aware of his coming. He will not arrive in secret.

The beast will have a supernatural and glorious arrival on earth. He will look like God. People on earth will worship him. Most people will be deceived into believing that he is God.

The beast is not God. He is Satan himself. But he will come to earth disguised as God.

There are 5 major events that will happen on earth just before the beast comes.

Worldwide Earthquake
Very soon there will be a worldwide earthquake. This major earthquake will shake the whole world. It will be accompanied by thunder, lightning and noises.

“Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake.” Revelation 8:5

Shortly after the first worldwide earthquake there will be 4 severe calamities. They are called trumpets in the Bible. These four trumpets will devastate the earth.

Trumpet 1
“The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.” Revelation 8:7

A barrage of meteorites hits the earth and thousands of fires are ignited. The crops that are ready for harvest are burned up and 1/3 of the trees in the forests are burned up.

Trumpet 2
“Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood. And a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.” Revelation 8:8,9

An asteroid the size of a mountain plummets into the ocean. 1/3 of the ships that are sailing on the ocean are sunk and 1/3 of the fish die. The ocean becomes like blood.

Trumpet 3
“Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter.” Revelation 8:10,11

An asteroid falls to the earth, blazing with fire. The asteroid contains a bitter contaminant. One third of the rivers and springs of water are poisoned. Many people die from drinking the water.

Trumpet 4
“Then the fourth angel sounded: And a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. A third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night.” Revelation 8:12

One third of the sun, moon and stars are darkened and the day and night turn dark. The smoke and ejecta from the first three trumpets darkens the air and the sky.

The first four trumpets occur over the course of a few days. They cause worldwide devastation and they get the attention of everyone on the earth.

These calamities are acts of God. They are not caused by man or by Satan. It is evident that God has interrupted the lives of people on earth. People are frightened beyond description. “Is God angry with us?” they are wondering. Preachers are calling on people to repent and return to God.

The Beast comes to earth
Within a month or two after these four disasters occur, the beast will come. He will say that he is God and that people must repent of their sins and return to him. But he is not God. He is Satan and people should not worship or follow him.

The first beast in Revelation 13 is Satan, pretending to be God.

Read on to find out who is the second beast in Revelation 13?

The second beast in Revelation 13
The second beast in Revelation 13 will arrive on the earth at the same time as the first beast. These two beasts will come together and they will work together.

“Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.” Revelation 13:11,12

Notice these characteristics of the second beast:

1. Two horns
2. Like a lamb
3. Speaks like a dragon
4. Exercises authority in the presence of the first beast
5. Forces those who dwell on the earth to worship the first beast

Second beast has 2 horns
The second beast in Revelation 13 has two horns. These two horns represent two of Satan’s demons. These two demons will appear to be gentle and harmless, like a Lamb. But they will speak the words of Satan, who is the dragon.

These two demons will be continually in the presence of the beast. Their goal and objective is to force every person on earth to worship the first beast. The first beast is Satan, claiming that he is God.

Two demons named Moses and Elijah
The second beast in Revelation 13 has two horns. These two horns represents two demons. One of them will be named Moses and the other one will be named Elijah. They will pretend to be the prophets Moses and Elijah from the Old Testament in the Bible.

“He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast.” Revelation 13:13,14

The demon named Elijah will call down fire from heaven to prove that the beast is God. This will be like what the prophet Elijah did thousands of years ago.

The demon named Moses will work signs and miracles. This will be like what the prophet Moses did thousands of years ago.

The first beast in Revelation 13 is Satan, claiming that he is God. The second beast in Revelation 13 is two demons, claiming to be the prophets of old, Moses and Elijah.

These two beasts will arrive on earth at the same time. Ten leading demons will come with the two beasts. These ten demons are the ten horns that belong to the first beast.

“And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. He had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on his horns, and on each head a blasphemous name.” Revelation 13:1

Twelve demons
The 10 demons (10 horns) and the 2 demons (2 horns) added together make 12 demons. Satan will have 12 leading demons with him.

When Jesus was on earth, He had 12 disciples. When Satan is on earth, claiming to be God, he will have 12 leading demons with him.

There will also be millions of demons who come to earth at the same time as the first beast and the second beast of Revelation 13. Many of these demons will pretend to be angels from heaven.

Other demons will pretend to be people who died in the past and went to heaven. They will appear on earth in perfect bodies. They will not have the defects that the people had while they lived on earth. They will say that they have come back to earth to help and warn their friends and relatives on earth.

Read on to find out how long will the beast be on earth pretending that he is God?

How long will the beast be on earth?
Satan and his demons are currently confined to the spirit world. Soon Satan will be released from the spirit world and he will come to earth in a glorious, physical body. He will claim to be God. The Bible calls Satan the beast when he is physically on earth, claiming to be God.

“And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns. . . And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months.” Revelation 13:1,5

42 months
Revelation 13 tells us that the beast will be here on earth for 42 months. This is equivalent to 3 ½ years. Satan will be visibly and physically on earth for 3 ½ years.

During the 3 ½ years Satan will pretend that he is God and he will appear to be God. He will deceive most of the people on earth. Just about everyone will worship him as their god.

Beast cast into lake of fire
At the end of the 3 ½ years, Jesus will come the second time to rescue His people and take them to heaven. When Jesus comes the beast will be cast into the lake of fire.

“Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.” Revelation 19:20

Satan himself is not destroyed at this time. The beast is a costume or disguise that Satan uses. The beast is thrown into the lake of fire. Satan’s ability to disguise himself as God is destroyed in the lake of fire. Satan will never again be allowed to pretend to be God.

Read on to find out who will worship the beast?

Who will worship the beast?
The beast is Satan, claiming that he is God. Revelation 13:4 reveals how people will react when he appears.

“So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, ‘Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?’

The beast will be extremely powerful. He is the Satan, the Devil, the dragon, and the Serpent of old. He has spent thousands of years developing and strengthening his deceptive powers.

Very soon Satan will transform himself into an angel of light. When he appears as an angel of light he is called the beast.

“For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.” 2 Corinthians 11:14

The whole world will worship the Beast
When Satan comes as the beast he will have so much power and authority that the whole world will marvel.

“And all the world marveled and followed the beast.” Revelation 13:3

Almost everyone in the world will worship the beast.

A few people will choose to worship the Lamb instead of the beast. Jesus is called the Lamb and Satan is called the beast. The people who choose to worship the Lamb will have their names written in the Lamb’s book of life. Everyone else will worship the beast.

“All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” Revelation 13:8

Worship the beast and receive the wrath of God
The Bible gives a severe warning against worshiping the beast and receiving his mark:

“If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand, he, too, will drink of the wine of God's fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath.” Revelation 14:9,10

If you worship the beast and receive his mark you will receive the complete wrath of God.

Read on to find out how to avoid being deceived by the beast. How can I know the beast isn't God?

How can I know the beast isn't God?
When Satan comes to earth in a glorious body and pretends to be God most of the people in the world will believe him. They will deluded and will believe his lie.

Second Thessalonians describes what will happen when the beast comes. The beast is Satan, the lawless one.

“8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie.” 2 Thessalonians 2:8-11

Satan will be extremely powerful and he will work miracles and signs. He will lie and deceive almost every person.

Words will contradict the Bible
There will only be one way to differentiate the lawless one from the God that he claims to be. The words that Satan speaks will not agree with the Bible.

“To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” Isaiah 8:20

Satan will speak words that contradict the word of God. He will mix in a few lies with a lot of truth. But when you mix in a little poison with good food the result is poisonous food.

When you mix in a little black paint with white paint, the result is gray paint. So when Satan mixes in lies with truth the result is deception.

Very soon a glorious being is going to show up on earth and claim that he is God. Please listen carefully to his words and test everything he says against the Bible.

“These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.” Acts 17:11

Breaks the ten commandments
Notice that Satan is called the “lawless one”. He does not keep the law of God and he will lead his followers to disobey the law of God.

Satan will tell people that since he is God that he has the right and the ability to change the ten commandments. He will expect people to obey his changed version. But his words will not agree with the ten commandments and he should not be obeyed or worshiped.
